Information on changes to data protection regulations
01 March 2018
You may have heard that there are new laws surrounding how we look after your data coming into force. These new laws are called General Data Protection Regulations or GDPR.
They will require the Trustee to have a specific plan for how they look after your data, including data that is shared with any external advisers. The Trustee will also need to show that it fully documents the decisions taken to keep your data secure and must maintain a formal data protection policy for the Fund.
In line with existing requirements, the Trustee and all third party contacts must ensure that they only collect data that is absolutely necessary for the purpose for which it is required. Members will be entitled to receive more detail about how their data is held, for how long it is to be held and must have a right to access it on request.
In addition, we will be required to seek your specific consent in respect of the data we hold about you. This will involve us issuing you a formal notice which will set out the requirements as regards your personal data and exactly what you are consenting to. We’ll confirm the detailed changes in the next newsletter
